We have been busy!!!
At Stepping Stones Autism Support Group, we have been incredibly busy these last few months — and our hearts are so full seeing our community continue to grow, connect, and support one another.
One of our biggest accomplishments recently was hosting our Autism Awareness 5K at the State Fairgrounds. What started as a dream became an amazing community event filled with love, acceptance, and support. We had over 50 participants come out to walk, run, volunteer, and celebrate inclusion together. We were also honored to have more than 10 wonderful vendors and resource tables join us to help connect families with valuable services and support in our area.
Because of our amazing community, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters, we raised over $2,000 that will go directly back into helping local families and expanding programs and opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
We truly could not have done it without our incredible volunteers. From helping with setup and registration to cheering people on throughout the event, every single person played a part in making the day special. Seeing the community come together reminded us exactly why Stepping Stones exists.
Beyond the 5K, we have also been actively meeting with local businesses, organizations, and community groups to share more about Stepping Stones, what we do, and how we hope to continue helping families in Sedalia and surrounding areas. These conversations have opened doors to exciting opportunities, partnerships, and future projects that we cannot wait to share.
We also recently hosted a support group night featuring a licensed counselor to provide encouragement, guidance, and a safe space for families navigating disabilities, autism, and special needs. Creating spaces where families feel understood, supported, and connected is one of the most important parts of our mission.
And honestly… we are just getting started.
We have so many exciting things in the works for this year, including more community events, family supports, advocacy opportunities, inclusive activities, and future projects that we believe will make a lasting impact in our area.
Thank you to every family, volunteer, donor, business, and supporter who believes in our mission. Stepping Stones continues to grow because of this amazing community, and we are so excited for what’s ahead.
Together, we are building a more inclusive, supportive, and accepting community — one step at a time.
